On a cobblestone street in a side pocket of Soho lays the underground design atelier of Mario Moya a New York based designer with twenty years of high-end fashion experience. Here, Moya and his talented team have been working steadfastly on a debut collection. Creating a signature fashion line has been a lifelong dream in the works.
Raised in Chicago, Moya's innate curiosity for fashion and high-profile Hollywood icons lead him to sketching clothing he imagined on scree sirens of film noir. Inspired by the illustrations of Christian Dior, he began sweing his own designs at the age of thirteen. instead of taking a full scholarship to the International Academy of Art, he moved to NEw York to train under various top 7th Avenue designers. In 1995, renowned couturier Thierry Mugler asked Moya to assist in the making of clothing for Mugler's private clientele in New York. After successful collaboration, Moya continued his work with Mugler in Paris, where he worked on the sprng 1997 collection. An excellent reputation at Mugler then earned him a place on the design team of the French couture house of Jacques Fath. Moya moved back to New York to work on Marc Jacobs' collection, later becoming the head Pattern Maker at Zac Posen.
A self-taugt master craftsman, Mario Moya possesses the vision and ability to createthe future of luxury clothing for the modern woman.
